How to Use an Electric Shaver Properly?

Most electric shavers provide a shave just as close as shaving with a blade razor when used properly. There are many benefits in using an electric shaver including its ease of use and ability to eliminate the chances of scrapes and cuts. Men would never attempt to shave with a blade razor while wearing shirt and tie but it is never a problem with electric shaver as it does not make a mess. Most men find shaving with electric shaver more convenient, non-messy and a quicker way to shave.

Here are some tips on how to use an electric shaver properly to provide you with efficient shaving. You must regularly clean the screen and cutter. You can lift the head frame holding the screen off on most shavers. With the included cleaning brush, brush out the whisker dust from the underside but avoid touching the screen with the brush because it is fragile. For cleaning the screen, brush only the cutter below it.

You need to sparingly lubricate the screen's metal surfaces and cutter by spraying the screen with an aerosol lubricant while the shaver runs. This quickly frees up any metal against the metal binding. You do not need to wipe lubricant off and you may proceed with shaving. You will know when your shaver operates at its maximum power level when you notice a pickup in sound level of the motor.

With a gentle pressure against the beard, shave against the grain of the beard growth. Never move the shaver too rapidly and do not press down hard, because doing these can cause the head of the shaver to wear out more quickly. Heat can cause irritation on sensitive skin and some shavers are generating heat on the shaving surfaces. If you have sensitive skin, it would be best to shave first the tenderest areas such as below the jawbone while the shaver head is at its coolest. The cooler the shaver, the lesser is the chance of irritation. You can then move to tougher areas of the face between nose, ears and mouth. You need to trim tough and stubborn hair on the neck before you shave.

If you are using a rechargeable electric shaver, charge your shaver until the battery gets full. Without using the cord, use the shaver until the battery runs all the way down before recharging it so the battery will last longer.
