Helpful Shave Tips for Men

Helpful Shave Tips for Men

Most men will agree, they absolutely hate having to shave each morning. Looking for some helpful men shaving tips?

The first step is the prep. Guys, do us all a favor and take a hot shower before you shave.

Why would you risk taking a sharp blade to your face, without making sure to have opened your pores and making sure you're relaxed? We, guarantee this step alone will deliver a better shave!

The next step is the pre-shave. We recommend using a pre-shave oil which will moisten the skin, loosen the beard and help the razor glide easily on your face.

We like the "Hot Towel" product by our friends at Billy Jealousy. The cool part of this Billy J Hot Towel product is that when rubbed on your face, it warms up as if you were getting a true, hot towel shave at home.

Next step is to get your shave on. We recommend using a badger hair shave brush by Razor MD as the most efficient way to apply shave cream. This is an often overlooked but very important step and is more cost effective in the long run.

The badger shave brush will help reduce the amount of shave cream used by spreading it out evenly, with the grain and at the same time, helping to penetrate the beard much deeper.

TIP: Once done shaving, rinse off your face with lukewarm to slightly cold water, to help close any cuts. Pat your face dry with a clean towel and rinse off your razor and badger shave brush to eliminate any bacteria from gathering.

Next step is the post shave. We recommend using an alcohol-free, post-shave solution that will calm your beard and help minimize any cuts or redness. For this, we recommend the Ice product by Billy Jealousy.

TIP: If you have any cuts or slight bleeding, take a styptic pencil, wet it and rub over cut. The cut will instantly begin to close up and start healing. Lucky for you, Razor MD sends with our products a Match-book of Septic sticks to keep with you in case of any shave emergencies.

TIP: If you have any redness and have a hot date or somewhere to be, take some Visine eye drops, dab on a cotton pad and apply to redness area for about 60 seconds. The same properties in Visine that reduce redness in ones eyes also reduce redness on skin. This could mean the difference of going home alone or not...

Lastly, it's important to apply an oil-free moisturizer to your entire face after shaving, for god's sake son you just took a razor blade to your mug and it needs to heal and re-hydrate. By using oil-free stuff, you eliminate the risk of getting that chappy, dry skin look that comes along with seasonal weather changes.

You also eliminate being the guy with the oily skin, or what girls refer to as a "shine" face.
TIP: Girls don't like oil, thus by not using any alcohol based shave products, you won't dry out your face, trust us.

If you don't, you will actually cause your face to produce more oil to make up for the dryness and coupled with an oil based moisturizer, you just voluntarily created enough oil to make a good set of French fries but not any action if ya know what were saying.
